Understanding the characteristic of a planet is the first step to understand Vedic Astrology. So lets talk about Sun – the king of all planets and what it means in Vedic Astrology….
- Sun is our soul, without the help of the solar energy no life can sustain on earth. That’s the reason its represented as the Atman/Prana (life giving energy) in Vedic astrology.
- Sun is fiery in nature, has a pure energy (satwik in nature) and also represented as the warrior.
- Among the zodiacs, Sun rules the LEO sign or rashi. Its symbol is a Lion.
- It gets exalted at 10 degree Aries and debilitated at 10 degree Libra that means if it is placed at 10 degrees in Aries zodiac its position is very powerful and at 10 degrees in Libra its position is least powerful.
- Sun’s Mooltrikona sign is again Leo ( 0 to 20 degree ) —- We will talk about the Mooltrikona signs for all the planets in a separate blog.
- Sun is friendly to Moon , Mars and Jupiter.
- Sun is enemy to Saturn and Venus.
- Sun is neutral to planet Mercury.
- It is refereed as a male, that means the sun’s energy has an aggressive element to it and it rules the East direction.
- Lucky Stone for Sun : Ruby / Garnet.
- Lucky Color : Light Red, Orange or Saffron.
- Lucky Numbers: 1, 10 and 19.
- Its rules the following in a Vedic astrological chart: Father, Power, Authority, Government, Royalty, Health, Politicians, Doctors, Courage, Honorable position in the society, Eyes, Wool, Wood, Timber, Creativity, Brokerage, Forest and Deserts.
- Professions governed by Sun: Government Jobs, Royal appointments, Administrator, Commission agent, Forest department jobs, Photographer, Jeweler, Designer, Actor, Dealer in wool, Judiciary jobs and the creative pursuits.
- Suns prominent qualities: Political, royal and an aristocrat planet. It represents our soul, ego, vitality and strength.
- Products ruled by Sun: Sandal wood, Saffron, Wheat, Jaggery, Copper, Ruby or Red cloth.
